Pet Peeves...Boy That's Annoying!

I am going to share my top three pet peeves, and let me be perfectly clear, they are really, really annoying (listed in no particular order). 1. People who use the speaker feature on their cellphone in a restaurant or other place of business. 2. People who “merge” onto a highway into traffic even though the sign says “yield.” 3. People who wear their backpacks in the subway and bop others—meaning me—with them. more

Watch Your Portions...Super Sizing is so Last Year!

One of the biggest challenges we face on a daily basis is figuring out what a healthful portion of food looks like. Food just isn’t as small as it used to be, whether we’re talking bagels, burgers, baked potatoes, cookies, or pancakes. The super sizing of food happened so gradually that we didn’t notice it until portions got way out of control. And the fact that food is served on large plates filled to the brim doesn’t help. Anxiety...Got it but Don't Want It!

It begins with a twinge in the pit of my stomach: just enough of a twinge to make me aware that I am not quite myself. It starts to build and feels like there are Mexican jumping beans bouncing around inside me. I notice what else has shown up …a tack-sharp negative thought that is as clear as a bell. It is then that I realize that I am feeling anxious. There is a short list of things that I can count on to cause this, including my dog, Cookie, not feeling well, driving in an unfamiliar city, or being late. more
